Bob (18) is an overweight, kind-hearted boy raised in a devout Catholic family, where religion shapes his entire world. Wanting him to lose weight, his parents send him to a religious medical resort for the physically disabled, with a car promised as a reward for success. There, he shares a room with Vítek (17), a nihilist suffering from an incurable muscle disease who rejects both faith and hope. He also falls for Káťa (23), a warm and open-hearted intern. During the stay, both relationships intensify, but as Káťa rejects Bob, he succumbs to Vítek’s mentality. This leads to an ill-considered act of revenge: Bob puts insect poison into her drink, leaving Káťa in a coma. As prayers for her recovery go unanswered, Bob begins to fall apart, and Vítek manipulates him into one final, irreversible act: helping him end his suffering.
